$***** per hour (SCHADS Level 3.1) + Super + salary packaging up to $18,550 (Pay less tax)

We're looking for a passionate and organised Community Development Worker to join the Harris Community Centre in Ultimo on a fixed-term, part time contract (3 days per week) for 12 months to provide leave coverage.
n
This is a hand-on, centre-based role where you'll plan and deliver family programs, connect families with local services and create opportunities for children, parents and carers to build relationships and participate in their community.
n
You'll become a familiar and trusted presence for families, children, volunteers, students and community partners.
n
About the Role
n
As a Community Development Worker, you'll help strengthen the local community by developing programs, activities and events that bring families together, build confidence and connection, and reduce social isolation.
n
Working closely with the Centre Coordinator, families, community organisations, volunteers and students, you'll create meaningful opportunities for people to connect, participate and feel supported.
n
Key responsibilities include

Develop and deliver engaging community programs, playgroups,



events and parent/child activities.
n
Welcome families and connect them with relevant services, information and community resources.
n
Build strong relationships with schools, health services, community organisations and local service providers.
n
Support and coordinate volunteers and students involved in centre programs and activities.
n
Maintain accurate client records, data, reporting, compliance and safety requirements.
n
Help grow the profile of the Centre and Uniting through community engagement, social media postings and collaboration with communications teams.
n
Support community planning and outreach, identifying opportunities that respond to local needs.
n
Represent the centre at community events, forums and local activities.

What You'll Bring
n
n
At least one year experience working with families and diverse communities.
n
A person-centred approach, with a passion for helping people build confidence, connection and capacity.
n
Experience delivering community programs, family activities or community development initiatives.
n




Confidence planning and coordinating engaging events and parent/child activities.
n
Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and juggle priorities.
n
Great communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to connect with a wide range of people and community partners.
n
An interest in sharing community stories and promoting programs through social media and other channels.
n
Good administration, data collection and reporting skills with robust attention to detail.
n

Qualifications
n
n
A Diploma of Social Science or an equivalent relevant qualifications
n
Currentpaid NSW WWCC
n
Current First Aid Certificate
n
n
Even Better
n
n
Ability to speak a second language
n
Experience documenting client experiences in client record management systems such as Carelink+.
n
Previous event design and management experience within local communities.
n
Previous experience working in early learning or early childhood environments.
n
