About the role

Our client is a well-established and growing landscape construction business operating across Queensland, delivering projects that shape the spaces communities live, work and play in. They're now looking for a Commercial Project Manager who brings genuine hands-on construction knowledge — across both hard and soft landscape works — together with robust commercial and contract administration capability.

This isn't a purely desk-based commercial role. You'll need to know your way around paving, formwork, retaining walls and irrigation just as well as soil prep, planting and turf establishment, because that technical grounding is what makes your programming, variations assessments and quality control credible on-site.

What you'll be doing
n
n
Applying hands-on knowledge of hard landscape works (paving, formwork, retaining walls, blockwork, fencing, irrigation) to plan, sequence and verify construction
n
Applying sound knowledge of soft landscape works (soil prep, planting, turf establishment) to ensure correct methodology and material quality
n
Interpreting drawings and specifications to identify buildability issues early and resolve site queries
n
Assessing the technical merit, methodology and cost of variations, RFIs and claims
n
Developing project plans covering budgets, procurement, programs and resourcing
n
Managing project costs and financial reporting, keeping delivery within tendered margins
n
Administering contracts, including RFIs, EOTs, variations and progress claims
n
Acting as the primary client contact, leading meetings, site inspections and progress reviews
n
Driving quality and safety compliance across both hard and soft works, including SWMS, ITPs and inspections
n




Mentoring and developing Site Managers and site-based teams

What you'll bring
n
n
5+ years' project management experience in landscape or civil construction
n
Demonstrated hands-on experience across hard landscape works (paving, formwork, retaining walls, blockwork, fencing, irrigation)
n
Demonstrated experience in soft landscape works (soil preparation, planting, turf establishment)
n
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
n
Sound understanding of construction methodology, setout, levels, drainage and quality tolerances
n
Proven experience with contract administration (RFIs, EOTs, variation claims)
n
Confident client-facing communication and relationship management skills
n
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing budgets and margins
n
Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop site-based teams
n
The ability to juggle multiple projects and sites at once
n

Desirable but not essential
n
n
Trade qualification or formal training in landscape construction, horticulture or a related discipline
n
Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management or similar
n
Landscape construction experience in Queensland, including familiarity with TMR specifications
n
Experience with project
management/scheduling
software
n
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
n
