We're looking for a practical, reliable and team-focused Baker to join our growing local business and help develop a new bakery program based at the Upper Beaconsfield General Store.
n
Baking is the primary focus of this role. Barista and cafe all-rounder skills are not essential, but would be highly regarded.
n
About the role
n
You'll help produce fresh bread, pastry and cafe bakery products for the Upper Beaconsfield General Store and our Over the Road venues in Emerald and Gembrook.
n
Products may include:
n
Rustic white and sourdough loaves
n
Croissants and laminated pastries
n
Brioche buns and enriched dough products
n
Seasonal and creative bakery products
n
Our business already makes pies and sausage rolls in-house. This role will help us build on that foundation by developing consistent, high-quality bread, pastry and cafe baking across our locations.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
Preparing, shaping, proving and baking products
n
Working with smaller kitchens and a variety of equipment
n
Adjusting recipes, batch sizes and production methods
n
Planning production around demand and freshness
n
Developing recipes, systems and production processes
n
Maintaining consistent product quality and presentation
n
Managing basic stock, ingredients and wastage
n
Keeping the bakery and kitchen areas clean and organised
n
Completing normal cleaning and dishes as part of each shift
n
Supporting the wider cafe team when required
n
Working across our Hills locations when needed
n
About you
n
You may be a qualified baker, pastry cook,



experienced bakery assistant or a cafe all-rounder with strong practical baking skills.
n
You'll ideally have:
n
Practical commercial baking experience
n
Experience with bread, pastry, brioche or laminated doughs
n
The ability to work confidently in a smaller kitchen
n
A adaptable and creative approach
n
Good organisation and attention to detail
n
The ability to work well in a small team
n
A friendly and approachable manner with customers
n
The confidence to work alongside younger and developing team members
n
Pride in cleanliness, food safety and presentation
n
A willingness to help wherever the business needs you
n
Barista skills are not essential, but they would be highly regarded.
n
The ideal candidate may also be comfortable helping with coffee, breakfast, toasties, customer service or general cafe work when required. Baking remains the primary focus of the role.
