Heavy Vehicle / Plant Mechanic | Local Council

We are currently seeking experienced Vehicle Mechanics: Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanics to play a key role in keeping the fleet of trucks, heavy vehicles, and equipment in top condition. Based at the Wilberforce Depot, this hands-on role is ideal for experienced mechanics looking to work in a supportive, safety-focused team.

Spread of hours covers 5:30am to 6:30pm
n
Requirement to participate in on-call roster system
n
Available for after hours response
n
Applicant must provide own tools
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
Complete minor and major services on Council vehicles and plant
n
Diagnose and repair faults on Council plant and equipment as required
n
Carry our maintenance on Council equipment, including but not limited to chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers, passenger vehicles, trucks and earth moving equipment
n
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission faults
n
Carry out oxy and mig welding repairs
n
Keep accurate maintenance and service records
n
Maintain workshop safety and assist with parts inventory
n
Ensure all work complies with WHS and environmental standards
n
What You'll Need:
n
Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Plant Mechanics
n
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and machinery is essential
n
Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
n
Experience with diagnostic tools and ECMs
n
HR Driver's Licence
n
Solid teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
n
White Card
n
Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
n
Highly Regarded:
n
Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector certification
n
Welding and fabrication experience
n
Confined Space Ticket
n
Permit to operate Backhoe, Loader, Forklift, Mobile HIAB
n
CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REQUIRED
