The Organisation
The Wilderness Society is an independent environmental advocacy organisation working to protect Australia's natural environment. Its approach combines campaigning, community organising, advocacy and communications to build public support and achieve lasting change.

In Western Australia, the organisation is progressing important campaigns focused on the Northern Jarrah Forest and Kimberley, working alongside communities, supporters and partners to strengthen protection for these unique environments.

The Role
Based in Boorloo / Perth, you will join The Wilderness Society's WA campaigns team, helping turn campaign strategy into coordinated action across advocacy, community engagement, research and communications. Working closely with the WA Campaigns Manager and colleagues across campaigning, organising and communications, you'll support campaigns designed to build public momentum, influence decision-makers and secure stronger protection for nature across WA.

This role would suit someone with experience or exposure to campaigning, advocacy, community organising or a related field who is ready to deepen their campaigning capability within an established environmental organisation.

The position will be offered as a full-time 12-month fixed term contract, with the option to extend for a further 12 months. Some travel within WA may be required.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Campaign Support and Delivery

- Deliver WA campaign priorities, translating strategy into coordinated and effective action.
- Undertake research and analysis to inform campaign strategy, tactics and advocacy.
- Track campaign progress and adapt activity in response to emerging opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement





- Build productive relationships with political, community, corporate and alliance stakeholders.
- Engage supporters, partner organisations and community groups to strengthen campaign reach and impact.
- Contribute to stakeholder mapping, power analysis and coordinated campaign planning.

Communications and Campaign Coordination

- Develop clear and engaging briefings, campaign materials and content.
- Coordinate campaign communications, events and supporter engagement activities.
- Work collaboratively across The Wilderness Society to deliver campaign priorities.

About You
You are proactive, grounded and highly organised, with the maturity and sound judgement to work both collaboratively and independently. Naturally curious and resourceful, you think critically, anticipate issues and work through solutions, knowing when to take ownership, collaborate or escalate.

A strong communicator, you are comfortable engaging with different people and perspectives and can make complex information clear. You are also adaptable and resilient, with a genuine commitment to environmental or social impact and the integrity and motivation to contribute to meaningful change.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

- Robust project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and changing deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear and engaging campaign materials.




- Confidence building relationships and working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Sound judgement, critical thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of individual priorities.
- A genuine alignment with The Wilderness Society's purpose and values.

Experience in environmental or social change campaigns, knowledge of WA or national political and policy processes, or experience working with community groups, supporters or alliances would be advantageous. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience will also be highly regarded.
