Your New Company
Hays Trades & Labour is partnering with a leading landscaping and grounds maintenance contractor delivering high-quality services across commercial, government and community-based projects throughout Canberra. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established organisation that values safety, teamwork and career development.
As a Garden Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead by example while working alongside your team to ensure all gardening and grounds maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Your duties will include:
- Leading and coordinating daily garden maintenance activities
- Providing hands-on support and mentoring team members on-site
- Mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching and fertilising
- Identifying and reporting plant health or site maintenance issues
- Conducting site risk assessments and promoting a safe work environment
- Liaising professionally with clients and site stakeholders
- Ensuring all works are delivered to scope and quality standards
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in garden or grounds maintenance
- Experience leading or supervising small teams
- Current Driver's Licence
- Ability to operate garden maintenance equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Desirable:
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
- Previous experience maintaining commercial or government sites
- Knowledge of plant health management and pest control practices
