About the role

We are seeking a Takeaway Food Assistant to join the team at Tuckerbox Takeaway in Leongatha, VIC. This is a casual position offering 13 hours per week. As a Takeaway Food Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive quality food prepared efficiently and with care. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, supporting the preparation, assembly and cooking of takeaway meals, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. This role is essential to delivering an excellent customer experience and keeping our operations running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

- Preparation of food items including chopping, portioning and organising ingredients

- Operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively to prepare takeaway meals

- Assembling, cooking and packaging food accurately and promptly

- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen workplace, including regular cleaning and sanitisation of work surfaces and equipment

- Storing food items correctly to ensure quality and food safety standards are met

- Supporting the team to meet service demands during busy periods

- Following all food handling and safety procedures to prevent contamination and ensure customer safety

- Responding promptly to requests and communicating effectively with team members

- Assisting with basic stock management and reporting when supplies are running low

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a kitchen, takeaway, or food preparation environment is highly desirable

- A food safety and hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain one

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety





- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions from supervisory staff

- Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry items safely

- Reliability and flexibility with availability to work casual shifts as required

- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills

- Basic numeracy skills for weighing and measuring ingredients accurately
