We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Draftsperson / Production Draftsperson to join a hands-on manufacturing environment on a part-time basis, working 3 days per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate product and production drawings using AutoCAD, translating customer and internal requirements into clear, accurate and production-ready drawings.
A key part of the role will be preparing cut-to-size and nesting drawings for Pathfinder Cutting Technology machinery.
A PC with AutoCAD software will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate product and production drawings using AutoCAD.
- Translate customer requirements and internal specifications into production-ready drawings.
- Prepare cut-to-size and nesting drawings for Pathfinder Cutting Technology machinery.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure drawings meet manufacturing requirements.
- Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, specifications and production suitability.
- Prepare recommended designs and drawings to support product selection and production.
- Make drawing amendments and revisions as required.
- Maintain an organised digital library of drawings, designs, BOMs, SOPs, templates and technical specifications.
- Maintain accurate revision control and document management.
- Ensure only current and approved drawings are available for production.
- Archive and manage superseded or obsolete drawings and documentation.
- Assist with the development and updating of technical and production SOPs where required.
- Work collaboratively with production and other departments to identify and resolve drawing or design issues.
- Ensure drawings and documentation are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a CAD Draftsperson, Production Draftsperson or similar.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience producing drawings within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Understanding of cut-to-size, nesting and production drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and convert them into practical production drawings.
- Strong document control and organisational skills.
- Understanding of BOMs, specifications and technical documentation.
- Robust communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production and internal stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:
- Cabinetry or furniture manufacturing
- CNC or cutting machinery
- Nesting software
- Joinery or shopfitting
- Manufacturing environments
- Production planning
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Technical documentation and SOP development
