We are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who has built a strong career on the tools and is ready to pass that knowledge on. This is a hands-on senior role with a strong focus on diagnostics, technical guidance, quality control and coaching apprentices and developing mechanics.

The role would suit someone who still enjoys solving difficult mechanical problems but wants to step back from the more physically demanding work. You will use your experience to guide the team, teach good habits and help our younger tradespeople become safe, confident and capable mechanics.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Mentoring & Development: Coach apprentices and less-experienced mechanics through practical, hands-on training. Explain the why behind the repair and help build strong fault-finding habits.
- Technical Leadership: Be the experienced person the team can turn to for complex diagnostics, repair planning and technical advice.
- Diagnostics: Use diagnostic equipment, error codes and symptoms to identify faults across engines, transmissions and vehicle systems.
- Quality & Safety: Review work, promote high standards and ensure repairs meet manufacturer requirements, company policies and NHVR obligations.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Complete servicing and selected repairs while helping distribute work across the team based on skill level and development needs.
- Planning & Communication: Work with workshop and operational leaders to plan jobs, parts and timelines, and clearly communicate technical findings.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs and technical recommendations.

ABOUT YOU

- A trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with extensive industry experience and strong technical knowledge.
- A patient,



practical teacher who enjoys helping apprentices and younger mechanics develop their trade.
- Confident diagnosing complex faults and explaining solutions in a clear, straightforward way.
- Experience with Volvo and Kenworth trucks. Mack, Isuzu, Sitrak or UD experience is also valued.
- Organised and able to plan workload, required parts and repair priorities.
- A strong commitment to safety, workmanship and quality assurance.
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
- HR and forklift licences are advantageous.
- Willing to travel occasionally across our Queensland and Recent South Wales network when required.

THE WORKSHOP & FLEET
Our Brisbane Workshop is a key part of the network, helping keep more than 1,000 fleet units operating safely across Australia. You will work across new and established equipment including Kenworth, Mack, Volvo, Isuzu and UD vehicles, supported by a large and collaborative workshop team.
