Experienced Retail Sales Assistant — Christmas Shop, Joondalup (Immediate Start)

KEY — READ BEFORE APPLYING:

We are a small, busy, family-owned Christmas shop in Joondalup, and we are hiring experienced retail sales people for an immediate start, working through to Christmas.

You must have a minimum 2 years' face-to-face RETAIL SALES EXPERIENCE in a small, very busy retail shop.

This is NOT a hospitality role — please do not apply if your experience is only in hospitality or fast food. Selling a hamburger to someone who has already walked in, knowing what they want is a completely different job.

In our shop, customers often don't know what they want — you'll need to ask questions, communicate, listen, suggest ideas, help them choose decorations and gifts, and close the sale. That is genuine retail selling, and it's the skill we need.

Your application will be automatically rejected if you have fewer than 2 years' retail sales experience, or if your experience is from hospitality or fast food only — so please don't spend your time applying.

General small retail sales experience is acceptable and does not need to be specifically in Christmas or Seasonal retail environments, but would be a great advantage.

Having worked with a small family owner business in retail is also an advantage

Not suitable for: students still at school, or people who have just left school looking for a first job. Sorry — we need experienced, mature-minded retail sales people.

Pay: Casual position, $30 – $45 per hour (casual rate under the Retail Industry Award

Hours & availability:

- 20–30 hours per week, minimum 3–4 days

- Tuesday to Sunday, roughly 9.30am – 4:00pm

- Weekend availability is essential — no exceptions





- Must be flexible to days & times

- No after-hours or late-night work

What you'll actually be doing:

- Communicating and Serving customers on the shop floor — genuinely selling.

- Helping customers plan their Christmas decorating and gift buying

- Advising on colors, themes and the latest seasonal trends

- Keeping displays full, tidy and beautiful as new stock arrives

- Counting stock (Apple computer experience preferred)

- Working quickly and calmly during busy periods, as part of a small team and on your own

About you:

- Minimum 2 years' retail sales experience in a small, busy shop (Christmas or seasonal retail is a bonus, any retail sales background is fine)

- Bright, bubbly and friendly personality — you enjoy talking to people of all ages

- Being confidence in upholding our store policies

- A good listener and clear communicator, comfortable engaging with customers at every level

- Able to move quickly and efficiently throughout the shop

- Quality customer service focus - willing to go the extra mile

- Self-motivated, quick-thinking and a problem solver

- Confident with basic maths and writing skills

- Commitment to work

- Creative flair (advantageous)
