Currently seeking a Trades Assistant - Switchboard Building to join our growing team in Brisbane, QLD 4000. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic trades environment. As a Trades Assistant, you will support our experienced tradespeople in the design, assembly, and installation of switchboard systems. This role is essential to our operations, as switchboard building forms a core part of our electrical and communications service delivery. You will work in office and at our facilities, gaining hands‑on experience whilst contributing to high‑quality projects that power businesses and communities across the region.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting qualified electricians and switchboard builders in the assembly and construction of switchboards and electrical distribution systems
- Preparing materials, components, and tools required for switchboard building projects
- Following technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions to support the accurate construction of switchboards
- Conducting basic testing and quality checks on switchboard components under supervision
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area, including proper storage and handling of materials and equipment
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of switchboards at client sites
- Assisting with cable management, labelling, and documentation of switchboard systems
- Adhering to all workplace health and safety requirements and protocols
- Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting the delivery of projects on schedule

What we're looking for

- Year 11 or 12 schooling, or equivalent qualification
- A genuine interest in trades, electrical work, or switchboard building
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts and safety principles




- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions accurately
- Good hand‑eye coordination and practical dexterity for assembly work
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced tradespeople
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to learning on the job
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and certifications as required by the role
- Valid driver's licence is preferred for site‑based work
- Working towards or holding a nationally recognised electrical or trade‑related qualification is advantageous
