The Opportunity

Survey Management Solutions (SMS) is continuing to grow, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our regional Victorian team, based in Bendigo.

This is a senior hands‑on role suited to an experienced engineering or construction surveyor who is comfortable taking ownership of projects, working directly with clients and site teams, and providing technical leadership to other surveyors.

Working closely with the Regional Manager and wider SMS team, you'll help deliver a diverse range of civil infrastructure, land development and construction projects throughout Bendigo and the surrounding region.

You’ll have the chance to work autonomously while remaining part of an experienced and supportive national surveying team, with access to modern survey technology, software and equipment.

What You'll Be Doing

Every project is different, but your responsibilities will include:

- Taking responsibility for the delivery of surveying services across civil construction, infrastructure and land development projects
- Planning, coordinating and completing engineering set out, feature, level and as‑built surveys
- Establishing, maintaining and verifying survey control networks
- Undertaking survey computations, reductions and quality assurance checks
- Preparing digital terrain models, design models and machine guidance files
- Producing accurate survey data for quantities, progress claims, conformance and material calculations
- Operating and providing technical support for GPS, Total Stations and machine guidance systems
- Reviewing construction drawings, design models and survey information before works commence
- Identifying potential design, set out or construction issues and working with project teams to resolve them
- Liaising directly with Project Managers, Engineers, Foremen and construction crews
- Providing technical advice and survey support to clients and site personnel
- Coordinating survey priorities across multiple projects and responding to changing site requirements




- Mentoring and supporting Surveyors and junior team members where required
- Reviewing survey work to ensure accuracy, compliance and required tolerances are achieved
- Maintaining survey equipment, calibration records and project documentation
- Completing reports, timesheets, QA records and other required project documentation
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, professionalism and technical quality.

About You

You're an experienced survey professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects, solving technical problems and working closely with construction teams to deliver successful outcomes.

You’ll ideally have:

- A Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics or a related discipline
- Approximately 5+ years' experience in engineering, civil construction or infrastructure surveying
- Strong experience in construction set out, as‑built surveying and survey control
- Demonstrated experience using GPS and Total Stations
- Experience with survey processing, modelling and engineering survey software
- Experience preparing digital terrain models and machine guidance data would be highly regarded
- Strong understanding of survey tolerances, QA requirements and construction documentation
- The ability to interpret civil construction drawings, designs and specifications
- The ability to work independently and manage survey requirements across multiple projects
- Strong communication skills and confidence liaising directly with clients, engineers and construction teams
- The ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced surveyors
- A White Card and current driver's licence




- A strong commitment to safety, quality and professional standards.

Experience working within regional civil construction, subdivisions, roads, drainage, utilities or major infrastructure projects would be highly regarded.
