The Role

SMEC is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our rail team in Brisbane. The successful candidate will design and deliver low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering components for various rail projects locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and delivery of low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering services for various rail projects
- Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction
- Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections
- Reviewing electrical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
- Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals




- Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

About You

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 6+ years’ industry experience
- Experience preparing detailed electrical design documentation across rail and other transport infrastructure projects
- AutoCAD, Revit, PowerCAD, AGI 32, DIALux, CDEGS software experience
- Must have strong understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards, as well as Safety Assurance and System Engineering processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation
- Accountability for project delivery and budget
- RPEQ registration or actively progress towards registration
