The Role

The ESD Consultant supports project leaders and manages the design and documentation of Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) services.

The Responsibilities

- Oversee and deliver design and documentation for various ESD projects, meeting wide-ranging requirements per project.
- Carry out sustainable design assessments, calculations and studies in areas including energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, water efficiency, indoor environment quality, materials and stormwater pollution.
- Prepare advice and propose solutions to sustainable design matters, to reduce the environmental impact of development projects.
- Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
- Attend and manage project/client/site meetings as required.
- Allocate and monitor workloads of yourself and others,



meeting deadlines and ensuring high-quality documentation deliverables.
- Liaise with authorities and suppliers.
- Multi-disciplinary collaboration with other building design professionals.
- Interpret relevant Australian standards and the Building Codes of Australia, ensuring your knowledge of these is comprehensively maintained.
- Prepare sustainable design reports and documentation.

The Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or equivalent.
- Experience in design and documentation within various sectors of the construction industry.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam and other ESD-specific software packages.
- Knowledge of building codes and relevant standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders.
- Excellent time management, leadership and teamwork skills.
- Creativity and analytical skills.
- Strong client focus and the ability to work within or lead a project team.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills (both internal and external).
