About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Officer to join the Royal Area team.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital and operational projects that support visitor experience, heritage protection, conservation and environmental sustainability outcomes across Royal National Park and surrounding reserves.

Reporting to the Manager, Royal Area, you will be responsible for project planning and delivery, procurement and contract management, stakeholder engagement, governance and reporting, while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

A key focus of the role will be the successful delivery of two priority projects:

- The development and implementation of an updated Conservation Management Plan for the heritage-listed Royal Coastal Cabins.
- Progressing a range of significant infrastructure projects currently entering the planning phase, including potential beach access ramp upgrades and seawall works.

The role may also support the development of new camping opportunities and assist with the coordination of campground operations, including overseeing support services that maintain facilities and deliver positive visitor experiences.

About You

You are a proactive and strategic project professional with a strong ability to manage complex projects, competing priorities, and diverse stakeholders. Experience working with complex heritage-listed assets,



including the planning of works and preparation of environmental and heritage approvals will be highly regarded.

You will bring:

- Proven experience delivering complex projects or programs in a government or similarly structured environment
- Strong skills in project planning, budgeting, and resource management
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder consultation and negotiation across varied interest groups
- Experience leading and motivating teams to achieve project milestones and outcomes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving sills, with the ability to manage risk and adapt to change
- Robust communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, high-level advice and reporting
- A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering environmentally and socially responsible outcomes

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
