Your Main Quest

The Team Leader exists to support and guide Mentors on the floor so they are confident, prepared, and well-supported to deliver high-quality care to Members. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where Members feel respected, included, and supported, and where Mentors are coached, assisted, and empowered to perform at their best

Your day-to-day tasks will include, but are not limited to:

Conducting the Morning Briefing.

Run campus and community-based programs that positively develop the Members.

Promote Member’s independence by guiding them through daily activities and not just doing it for them.

Build trust, set clear daily goals, and guide the group to collaborate.

Conduct daily check-ins with Mentors to foster positive work culture, boost team morale, and maintain productivity.

Work on the floor during shifts to show staff the correct, professional way to support members and complete daily tasks.

Ensuring programs start and finish on time according to each term's timetable.

Oversee daily campus cleaning schedules to ensure high standards while supporting the Campus Coordinator with day-to-day operational tasks.

Provide support to Mentors and provide clarity on BEST processes and systems such as Daily Recap writing, incident reporting, etc.

Safely driving BEST’s company vehicles to transport Members to and from programs, and to and from their homes or other approved pick-up and drop-off points.

Providing leadership during crises or incidents, including offering up solutions to prevent incident escalation. Uplining all incidents to the Campus Coordinator in a timely manner.





Promoting a positive image of people living with a disability in the community.

Your Skills

Prior experience and/or qualifications in the community services sector is desirable but not essential. The absolute must-haves :

Be a self-starter: We need people who will take initiative and who can problem-solve on their feet.

Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring flawless accuracy, high quality, and consistency in all work.

Ability to work in a fast-paced setting: No seriously, we’re constantly on the move whether that be on campus or at parks, shops, and more!

Be a jack-of-all-trades: Diverse backgrounds and skills are key to ensuring our Members have exposure to a wide range of experiences, so be sure to let us know of any of your weird, wacky, and wonderful areas of interest.

A compassionate personality: You must be a patient, kind, and caring person as we will not accept anything less.

Be and have fun: We want all of our staff and Members to love coming to BEST, so being someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously is essential (singing and dancing badly is encouraged).

Belief in the BEST mission: We want our Members to actually learn the skills they need to achieve their goals, and eventually not need us anymore!
