OUR SCHOOL

Alice Miller School is a small, innovative and high-performing secondary school located in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria, surrounded by beautiful areas of bush and irresistible wineries. We are fully subscribed with about 240 students from Years 7 to 12, with waiting lists for most year levels. Our founder was the celebrated educator and author, John Marsden, and our primary campus, Candlebark, is based in Romsey.

We value intellectual development, emotional growth, social skills, a love of the outdoors, and artistic expression. Our school walks the line between a liberal, inclusive, welcoming, good-humoured, sensible climate and a challenging curriculum requiring a healthy work ethic and authentic commitment.

We promote that experience is one of the best foundations for learning. We have an active camp and excursion program, ranging from bike camps to ski trips, from spending time at music festivals to art galleries, from canoe trips to hikes, from visiting touring exhibitions to attending writers' festivals. Quite a number of these trips are to other states or countries. We do all this while maintaining excellent academic rigour; our VCE results are amongst the best in the state.

We look for teachers who are not only strong classroom practitioners, but who are adults in the full sense of the word.



Our job is not simply to deliver curriculum, but to guide students from childhood to adulthood: one of the most important journeys they will ever make.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teaching secondary English and/or Humanities.
- Experience in teaching VCE English and/or Legal Studies is highly valued.
- The ability to demonstrate and authentically promote Alice Miller School's ethos and values.
- A willingness to participate in Alice Miller School's extracurricular and adventure program.
- VIT registration.
