About Centratech Systems

Centratech Systems (CTS) was founded in Melbourne in 2009 to tackle two problems facing Australian councils and land managers: water scarcity and rising energy costs. What began as a one-technician, one-truck irrigation business has grown into a team delivering wireless monitoring and control solutions across irrigation, pumping, filtration, and field lighting.

CTS's primary customers are local councils across Australia, who rely on the business to design, install, commission, and support central control systems for parks, sports grounds, golf courses, and open space, primarily on Motorola/Mottech IRRInet and ICC Pro platforms. CTS is also the team behind Fieldmouse, a newer open-protocol IoT monitoring and control platform extending this expertise into race clubs, mining services, and municipal water infrastructure.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Irrigation Central Control Technician to join our Victorian team, replacing a long-serving team member. You'll provide installation, configuration, and both on-site and remote (online) support for council central control systems across Victoria, working closely with council staff, open space contractors, and the wider CTS technical team.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who's equally comfortable in the field commissioning a pump station as they are training a council client on the software, or troubleshooting a system remotely.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, and commission irrigation central control systems (primarily Motorola/Mottech IRRInet and ICC Pro) for council and commercial clients
- Provide ongoing field and remote/online maintenance, fault-finding, and support to existing Victorian council clients




- Manage day-to-day relationships with council clients and their open space contractors, ensuring agreed KPIs and service levels are met
- Support pump station and pumping control operation and maintenance, including basic filtration systems
- Manage and administer web-based central control platforms, and train council staff and end users on their use
- Carry out change-outs and upgrades of existing central control installations
- Contribute to project management of larger commercial and council irrigation installations, including pump control integration
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare client-facing service reports

What You'll Bring

- Substantial experience in the irrigation industry, ideally including several years specifically on Motorola/Mottech Central Control (IRRInet, ICC Pro, or IMS) installation, configuration, and support
- Demonstrated experience supporting council or large-scale commercial irrigation clients, including managing multiple sites/clients against KPIs
- Working knowledge of pump station operation and control, and basic filtration systems
- Confidence managing web-based software platforms and training non-technical end users
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, both in office and remote
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites across Victoria

Desirable (nice to have)

- SCADA and/or Modbus integration experience
- Variable Speed Drive (VSD) configuration experience (e.g. ABB, Grundfos)
- Experience with stormwater harvesting, disinfection, or sewage treatment systems
- Manufacturer training/certification with Toro, Rain Bird or Motorola central control systems
- Formal irrigation or horticulture qualifications (e.g. Certificate II/III Irrigation, Diploma of Horticulture)
- White Card, confined spaces, or relevant machinery operation tickets
- Exposure to IoT devices, cloud platforms, or control panel fabrication
