Job Description
We’re looking for someone who can make people want to learn.
This is a hybrid role working from our Newcastle office
Let’s be honest. Training can be boring.
PowerPoint. Tick-the-box modules. Mandatory compliance training that everyone secretly does while making a coffee.
We think we can do better.
We’re looking for a Learning & Development Coordinator with energy, creativity and a genuine understanding of people to join our team and help us build a learning culture that actually sticks.
You’ll be joining an employment services organisation where every day is different, our people are doing incredibly important work, and the challenges they face aren’t always found in a textbook.
So, we need someone who gets it.
Someone who understands our clients,
our frontline teams and the world of employment services — and knows how to turn that understanding into learning experiences that are practical, engaging and maybe even a little bit fun.
So… what will you actually do?
You’ll be the person helping our people get better at what they do.
That means:
- Creating and coordinating learning programs that people actually want to participate in.
- Bringing energy and creativity to our onboarding and induction experience.
- Working with our frontline teams to understand what they really need — not just what looks good on a training plan.
- Turning policies, processes and compliance requirements into learning that people can actually understand and remember.
- Developing engaging resources, workshops, activities and learning experiences.
- Coordinating face-to-face, virtual and online training.
- Working with subject-matter experts and turning their knowledge into something engaging.
- Keeping our LMS and learning records organised and on point.
- Looking at feedback, performance and business needs and asking, “How could we do this better?”
- Helping managers build confident, capable teams.
- Supporting career development and continuous learning across the organisation.
- Keeping your finger on the pulse of what’s happening in employment services and bringing fresh ideas into the mix.
And importantly, you’ll actually get out and talk to people.
We don't want L&D; happening in a bubble.
You’ll spend time with the people doing the work, understanding their world, spotting opportunities and figuring out how learning can make their jobs easier, more effective and more rewarding
Who are we looking for?
We’re not necessarily looking for the person with the longest list of qualifications.
We’re looking for personality, curiosity and capability.
You might be our person if you:
- Have worked in employment services, workforce development, community services or a similar workplace and genuinely understand the space (this is essential)
- Have experience in L&D;, training, capability, coaching, facilitation or people development.
- Can walk into a room full of people and make them want to listen.
- Are creative enough to think beyond the standard training playbook.
- Can take a complicated process and explain it in a way that makes sense to a busy frontline employee.
- Know that adults learn differently — and you're willing to experiment with how we help them learn.
- Are comfortable working with everyone from frontline teams to senior leaders.
- Can build relationships quickly and aren't afraid to ask, “Why are we doing it this way?”
- Are organised enough to make the magic happen behind the scenes.
- Can juggle multiple projects without losing your mind.
- Have great communication skills and aren't afraid to bring your personality to work.
- Are comfortable with technology, digital learning and LMS platforms.
- Care about outcomes — not just whether someone completed a training module.
The big one…
You need to understand our world.
Employment services is complex.
Our teams work with people from all walks of life, often facing significant barriers to employment. They need more than a generic training program. They need practical tools, confidence, support and learning that makes sense in the real world.
If you've worked in this space, you’ll know exactly what we're talking about.
If you haven't, this probably isn't the role for you.
- Must pass and have a current Working with Children Check (ongoing requirement for employment)
- Must have a standard strength MYID prior to commencement
This role won't stay open for long- we'll close applications once we find the right candidate.
