Wesley Hyperbaric is a licensed and ACHS-accredited day hospital providing specialist Hyperbaric Medicine services in Brisbane.

We’re looking for experienced Registered Nurses to join our small clinical team on a casual basis.

This is a great opportunity for nurses looking to add some variety to their working life, whether alongside an existing hospital role or simply as a change from traditional ward and shift-based nursing.

If your background is ICU, Emergency, PACU/Recovery, Anaesthetics, HDU, medical/surgical nursing or another acute hospital setting, your clinical skills may translate very well into hyperbaric nursing.

No hyperbaric experience is required. We’ll train you.

What does a Hyperbaric Nurse do?

Our patients receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy inside a multiplace hyperbaric chamber for a range of medical, surgical and wound-healing conditions.

Nurses work both inside and outside the chamber as part of the clinical team.

Your role will include:

- Assessing, planning and delivering patient care

- Monitoring patients before, during and after treatment





- Recognising and responding to clinical deterioration

- Providing care to patients while inside the hyperbaric chamber

- Working closely with nursing and medical colleagues

- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation

- Participating in emergency response and clinical drills

- Completing structured hyperbaric training and competency assessments

- Contributing to a safe, reliable and high-quality clinical service

You won’t be expected to know hyperbarics when you arrive. We’ll provide the training and supported supernumerary period you need to become competent in the role.

Who we're looking for

You’ll need:

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

- Recent acute hospital nursing experience

- Sound clinical assessment and decision-making skills

- Confidence recognising and responding to deterioration

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- A reliable and professional approach to work

- A willingness to learn a new clinical specialty

Previous Hyperbaric Medicine or wound care experience is welcome, but it is not essential.

Chamber training and on-call

An significant part of hyperbaric nursing is working inside a pressurised clinical chamber.

You’ll complete supported training and a supernumerary period before undertaking chamber duties independently.

Once trained and competent, you’ll also participate in the on-call roster shared across our nursing team. Call-outs are infrequent, but participation in the roster forms part of the role.

As chamber duties are an inherent part of the position, successful candidates will also need to meet the health and safety requirements for working in a pressurised chamber. We’ll explain this process fully during recruitment.
