Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Project Officer to support the delivery of critical projects and programs within a highly secure Federal Government environment.

Working within a Project, Program or Portfolio Management Office (PMO), you will play a key role in supporting project planning, governance, reporting, financial management and delivery activities. This opportunity is suited to a motivated project professional who enjoys working in structured environments and contributing to complex, high-priority initiatives.

About the Role

In this position, you will:

- Support the delivery of projects and programs through effective project coordination and administrative support.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting activities.
- Support project testing, evaluation and acceptance activities.
- Apply established project management methodologies, tools and processes across administrative and technical project activities.
- Research, prepare and coordinate briefs, reports, submissions and correspondence.
- Assist with committee papers, governance documentation and project reporting requirements.
- Maintain project records, schedules, registers and delivery documentation.
- Support project governance activities, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with project risk, issue and change management processes.
- Maintain project financial records and support budget monitoring activities.
- Contribute to quality assurance and project control activities across the program environment.

Key Criteria to be Successful

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience supporting projects, programs or PMO functions within a structured delivery environment.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, frameworks and tools.
- Experience coordinating project planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting activities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience preparing project documentation, reports, briefings and governance artefacts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project records and documentation.




- Experience supporting project governance forums, project control boards or assurance activities.
- Ability to analyse information and provide practical recommendations to support project delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative project team environment.

Desirable Experience

- Experience supporting portfolio, program or project management office activities.
- Exposure to project financial management, risk management and quality assurance processes.
- Experience using project management and scheduling tools.
- Previous experience within Federal Government, Defence or National Security environments.
- Knowledge of project lifecycle management and governance frameworks.

Security Requirements

- Current TSPV Security Clearance is mandatory at the time of submission.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement.

Role Details

- Position: Project Officer
- Location: Canberra, ACT
- Working Arrangement: Onsite (subject to operational requirements)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start Date: 30 November 2026
- Contract: 12-month initial engagement with 2 x 12-month extension options available
