- Band 7 salary range of between $110,990.79 and $123,952.61 per annum plus 12% super and annual leave loading.
- Temporary full-time position (part time 0.8 FTE may be considered)

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Team Leader Land Management to join our Liveable Places and Environment team on a parental leave contract through to February 2028.

In this rewarding leadership role, you will provide specialist advice on environmental management, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and land management to landowners, community groups, government agencies and internal stakeholders. while overseeing the delivery of Council's environmental programs, grants, incentive schemes and community capacity-building initiatives. Through leadership of staff, program oversight and evidence-based decision making, the role supports the protection, enhancement and sustainable management of Nillumbik's natural environment and productive landscapes.

A typical day might include:

- Lead and manage Council's land management programs, initiatives and services to support positive environmental, biodiversity and sustainable land management outcomes across the Shire
- Provide leadership and management to the Land Management team to ensure effective service delivery and achievement of team objectives
- Provide specialist environmental, land management and agricultural advice to internal and external stakeholders, including supporting Council's planning, compliance and strategic functions
- Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of projects, programs, policies and initiatives that protect and enhance Nillumbik's natural setting and productive landscapes




- Manage complex environmental, operational and stakeholder issues and provide authoritative advice to support informed decision-making and effective risk management
- Build and maintain productive relationships with landowners, community groups, industry representatives, government agencies and internal stakeholders to support Council priorities and environmental outcomes

What you will bring to the role:

- A recognised tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Ecology, Sustainable Agriculture or a related discipline together with relevant professional experience; or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated people management experience, including performance management, coaching and employee development
- Considerable field experience in natural resource management and sustainable land management, preferably in environmentally sensitive, agricultural and peri urban settings.
- Relevant and wide-ranging experience in managing and delivering Government or public projects and programs, preferably in environmentally sensitive and urban fringe areas
- Experience and highly developed skills in liaising with and educating landholders and community groups and partners
- Experience in environmental data collection and management, including the application of GIS.
