We are seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth Central Business District. The Role

Suitable applicants would work collaboratively as part of a team and be committed to supporting the development of Joseph Banks SC as a culturally responsive school. You would work closely with the Principal, Executive and Leadership Teams to provide culturally appropriate advice and support to students, staff and families.



A key aspect of the role would be to work in partnership with Aboriginal families to improve their experience in engaging with the College.

In this role you would assist teachers to meet the educational and cultural needs of students by identifying opportunities and providing advice on program content relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Further to this, you may liaise with other agencies to further the educational welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Suitable applicants should exhibit a strong understanding of Aboriginal ways of being, knowing and doing and assist College staff to develop their understanding of Aboriginal perspectives. You should support students to access individual educational and pathway outcomes and liaise between the community and school to develop our educational program so that it is relevant to both educational and cultural needs. You would be an important support for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, including those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school.

Eligibility
