Disability support worker- Aboriginal Identified Person

Harmony nursing and support services Pty Ltd – Meadow Heights VIC

Harmony Nursing and Support Services is seeking a young, energetic and engaging Aboriginal Disability Support Worker to provide 1:1 support and mentoring to a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy with ASD and ADHD .

This role is focused on building a positive, trusting relationship while supporting the participant to access the community, participate in activities and strengthen his connection to culture.

About the role

You will support the participant with:

- Community access and social activities
- Attending Aboriginal community programs, youth groups and cultural activities
- Positive mentoring and role modelling
- Building confidence, independence and everyday life skills
- Participating in active and recreational activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive engagement
- Developing a consistent and trusted support relationship

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Preferably a young male support worker who can provide positive mentoring and cultural connection
- Active, outgoing,



patient and reliable
- Confident working with children and young people
- Experienced with, or knowledgeable about, Autism, ADHD and behaviours of concern
- Passionate about supporting Aboriginal children and young people to stay connected to community and culture

Requirements

Successful applicants will require:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance
- Relevant disability/community services experience or qualifications are highly regarded
