ADA Australia is a respected, independent, not-for-profit organisation advocating for the rights, safety and wellbeing of older people and people with disability across Queensland. For more than 30 years, we've delivered advocacy, information and education services that empower people to understand their rights and make informed decisions.

Our Aged Care Advocacy Services team works alongside older people, their representatives and service providers to ensure rights are upheld, concerns are addressed and people are supported to navigate the aged care system with confidence.

About the Prospect

We're seeking an Aged Care Advocate to provide information, support and advocacy to older people accessing or seeking aged care services.

We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time employment or, for the right candidate, a part-time arrangement.

You'll work directly with older people, families, service providers and other stakeholders to support clients to understand their rights, resolve concerns and navigate the aged care system.

In this role, you will:

- Deliver high-quality advocacy and support
- Assist clients to understand their rights and options
- Advocate for fair outcomes at individual and systemic levels
- Facilitate education sessions and build community connections
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality outcomes

About You

You're passionate about social justice and empowering people to have their voices heard.

You will bring:

- Qualifications in human services, social work, behavioural science, community services and/or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting older people,



Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, or other vulnerable groups
- Knowledge of aged care services and legislation (or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge)
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated cultural competency and experience engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Sound judgement, problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Strong administrative and computer skills, including experience using client management systems
- Valid Australian Driver Licence
- Current (less than three years old) National Criminal History Certificate
