Teacher - Conservation and Ecosystem Management

SuniTAFE SMART Farm is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual as a Casual Conservation and Ecosystem Management Teacher to deliver and assess the Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management at SuniTAFE's SMART Farm campus in Irymple. This casual teaching position will be supporting students to develop practical, industry-relevant skills and offers the opportunity to combine your industry expertise with education through a mix of classroom, practical and workplace-based learning.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality training and assessment for the Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
- Facilitate learning across a range of delivery modes.
- Develop engaging learning materials and practical training activities.
- Assess student competency and provide constructive, timely feedback.
- Support student engagement, retention and progression through individualised guidance and assistance.
- Develop and maintain training plans, assessment records and student documentation in line with RTO requirements.
- Ensure compliance with training package requirements, RTO Standards, Institute policies and quality assurance processes.




- Promote safe work practices and ensure WHS requirements are consistently applied in practical training environments.
- Liaise with industry stakeholders, students, support services and colleagues to enhance training outcomes and industry engagement.

Key selection criteria

The successful candidate will have well developed skills and a strong technical knowledge related to:

- Relevant qualifications in conservation and ecosystem management or a closely related field.
- Possession of the Certificate IV Training and Assessment or willing to obtain.
- Understanding of local ecosystems, biodiversity andconservation principles relevant to north-west Victoria and Mallee environments.
- Strong botanical knowledge, including native and introduced species.
- Understanding of plant pests, diseases and disorders.
- Practical experience with chemical handling, storage and application.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation,



permits, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and risk controls.
- Competence in operating and maintaining conservation equipment.
- Experience working respectfully with First Nations communities.
- Understanding of Cultural and Country-based approaches to land stewardship.

The successful candidate will be required to provide:

- A criminal record check which is less than 6 months old.
- A valid working with children check.

This position is open to Australian residents only or those with current working rights in Australia.
