About the Role

The First Nations Cancer Prevention Project Officer supports the delivery of the Yorta Itjumatj Yapaneyepuk (Healthy Together) initiative by providing project, administrative, engagement and operational support to the First Nations Cancer Prevention Project Manager.

Working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, partner organisations and internal stakeholders, the Project Officer contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities that improve cancer prevention, early detection and access to culturally safe care for First Nations people across the Campaspe and Goulburn Valley regions.

The role assists with community engagement, stakeholder coordination, project administration, reporting, resource development and continuous improvement activities, ensuring project objectives are achieved in line with funding requirements, organisational priorities and community expectations.

About You

- Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations




- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across client, community and professional groups inclusive of skills to negotiate and arrange access to service and treatment
- Effective project coordination skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working autonomously as well as working within a small team and larger teams, recognising and respecting the contributions of all team members
- Computer skills including the ability to adapt to changing demands and the suite of telehealth and mobile devices and the client data base (currently RCP)
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines
- Effective reporting writing skills and ability to write submissions
