We are expanding into Victorian schools and are looking for enthusiastic, reliable language tutors to deliver engaging language lessons to primary and secondary school students.

We are seeking English-speaking language tutors who are available to attend schools across Melbourne for in-person lessons, programs and language activities.

School Language Tutor - Melbourne

My Language Plug is a growing physical and online language learning platform connecting students with qualified language tutors. We are expanding into Victorian schools and are looking for enthusiastic, reliable language tutors to deliver engaging language lessons to primary and secondary school students.

We are seeking English-speaking language tutors who are available to attend schools across Melbourne for in-person lessons, programs and language activities.

As a School Language Tutor, you will deliver language lessons to students in Victorian schools in a professional, engaging and age-appropriate manner.

You may work with students individually, in small groups or with larger classes, depending on the school's requirements.

Languages currently of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Mandarin Chinese
- Japanese
- Italian
- French
- Indonesian
- Spanish
- German
- Vietnamese
- Hindi
- Other languages where there is school demand

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging and age-appropriate language lessons to primary and secondary school students.
- Communicate clearly and confidently in English with students, teachers and school staff.
- Teach your nominated language in a structured and engaging manner.
- Adapt lessons to different student ages, abilities and learning environments.
- Follow lesson plans, curriculum requirements and individual school expectations.
- Create a positive, respectful and inclusive learning environment.




- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with children.
- Attend scheduled school sessions reliably and punctually.
- Communicate professionally with My Language Plug and school staff.
- Complete any required administrative, attendance or lesson documentation.
- Follow all My Language Plug, school and Victorian child-safety requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families and school information.

Essential Requirements

- Be fluent or highly proficient in the language they teach.
- Have strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Be comfortable teaching children and young people.
- Be reliable, professional and confident working in a school environment.
- Be available to travel to Victorian schools for scheduled lessons.
- Hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC) , where required for the role.
- Meet all applicable Victorian child-safety and screening requirements.
- Be willing to complete any additional school-specific compliance or induction requirements.
- Have the legal right to work in Australia.
- Be able to provide evidence of required qualifications, certifications and identity documents when requested.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

The following would be advantageous:

- Previous experience teaching children or teenagers.
- Formal teaching, education, language or tutoring qualifications.
- Experience working within Australian schools.
- Experience teaching Languages Other Than English (LOTE).
- Knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum.
- Experience teaching students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification.




- Experience delivering group classes or classroom-based language programs.

Child Safety & Compliance

Because tutors will be working directly with children in Victorian schools, child safety is a fundamental requirement of this role .

Successful applicants will be required to provide and maintain all documentation necessary to legally and appropriately work with children in the relevant school environment.

This may include, depending on the role and individual school requirements:

- Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Proof of identity
- Evidence of qualifications and relevant certifications
- Right-to-work documentation
- National Police Check, only if required
- First Aid/CPR certification, where required
- Completion of school-specific child-safety training or induction
- Completion of any other screening, registration or compliance requirements requested by the school or My Language Plug
