The focus is on ensuring students leave school equipped with the knowledge, skills, confidence and pathways to thrive beyond school.
As part of the Connected Communities Strategy, Walgett Community College is more than a place of learning. It is a hub for education, wellbeing and opportunity, connecting students and families with health, early childhood, vocational, cultural and community services and drawing on the strength, knowledge and aspirations of the local community.
The College motto, “Courage and Excellence,” reflects the ambition held for every student and the collective responsibility of staff, families and community. About the Role:
Executive Principal Leadership Opportunity
The NSW Department of Education is seeking three dynamic, experienced and highly capable educational leaders to lead Walgett Community College Primary School and the newly established Walgett Community College Middle School and Walgett Community College Senior School, in preparation for the new educational model commencing from Day 1, Term 1 2027.
The appointment of Executive Principals to the Primary School, Middle School and Senior School recognises the complexity, opportunity and importance of leading education in Walgett.
The model is designed to bring together complementary expertise in educational leadership, Aboriginal education, community engagement and cultural capability, underpinned by high expectations for every student.
Each Executive Principal will hold clear accountability for the educational, operational and cultural leadership and success of their school, with a strong focus on student achievement, attendance, engagement, wellbeing and pathways. While leading distinct schools, the Executive Principals will share responsibility for ensuring a coherent and connected educational journey for students across Walgett Community College.
The Executive Principals will work in close partnership with each other, alongside the Senior Leaders Community Engagement (SLCE), local School Reference Group (SRG), families, community and local agencies. Together, this leadership team will drive the priorities of the Connected Communities Strategy and ensure local culture, community voice and aspirations are integral to decision making. Central to this work will be a shared commitment to Courage and Excellence: courageous leadership that builds trust, strengthens culture and responds to complexity, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence in teaching, learning and outcomes for every child and young person.

It positions schools as community hubs, strengthening the voice and influence of Aboriginal communities and bringing together education, health, early childhood, wellbeing, training and other services to support children and young people from birth, through school and into further education, training and employment.
The Executive Principal will work in genuine partnership with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, Local School Reference Group, families, Elders, community and key service partners. This requires culturally responsive and courageous leadership, strong relational trust, high expectations and the capacity to translate community aspirations into sustained improvements in student learning, attendance, engagement, wellbeing and post school pathways.
The Executive Principal will be accountable for delivering the key deliverables of the Connected Communities Strategy while providing robust educational and operational leadership and building the capability of staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning for every student.
