The Role

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager to join the owner's team for a Tier 1 client on a $2B multi year tailings project in Central NSW. You will be based in Brisbane, working from the office Monday to Friday on 10 hour days, with a few days on site each month on 12 hour days.

You report to the Project Manager and own the commissioning programme from strategy through to handover. Several Commissioning Leads report to you across the disciplines. You set the standard for how they plan, document and deliver their work, and you carry accountability for the quality of what the team produces.

This is a client side role, so you won't be doing the design yourself. You manage the EPCM contractor's commissioning scope, review their deliverables against project requirements and hold them to the programme. That takes a strong commissioning background,



because you need to question their work and know when it falls short.

Day to day, you set the commissioning strategy, plans and procedures and run the governance around them. That covers documentation, schedule, risk and interface management. You lead HAZID and HAZCON workshops and drive inspections and readiness reviews before commissioning. You also manage handover documentation through to a clean transition into operations.

All flights, travel time and accommodation are covered.

To be considered you must meet the following criteria:

A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field.

Located in Brisbane, able to work from the office Monday to Friday and travel to site in Central NSW a few days each month.

Previous practical experience on mining or heavy industrial projects in Australia and an established understanding of mining operations.

Previous experience as a Commissioning Manager on large scale projects.

Strong working knowledge of commissioning governance, completions processes and handover to operations.

Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop a team of commissioning leads.

Exceptional and professional communication skills to engage and influence the client, the EPCM and contractors.

An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

Current Australian C Class drivers licence and full working rights in Australia.





Experience on an owner's team managing EPCM contractors, or on tailings projects, will be highly regarded.
