12 Month Engagement – Azure Integration / Automation / API Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Azure Logic Apps Engineer to join a major enterprise Cyber Security Automation and Engineering function.

This role is primarily focused on Azure Logic Apps, workflow development, APIs, systems integration and process automation. You will be responsible for designing and building automated workflows that connect security platforms, enterprise systems and services across a large and complex Azure environment.

Working within a cyber security engineering team, you will use Azure Logic Apps and associated Azure services to automate processes, integrate applications and APIs, orchestrate workflows and improve the efficiency of security operations.

This is a hands‑on engineering role suited to someone with strong practical experience building Azure Logic Apps and cloud‑based integrations, rather than a traditional SOC or security operations specialist. You should be comfortable working with REST APIs, connectors, authentication methods, data transformation, workflow orchestration, error handling and troubleshooting complex integrations.

The environment includes Microsoft Sentinel; however, deep Sentinel expertise is not essential, as dedicated Sentinel SMEs are available within the team. Experience integrating Logic Apps with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft security technologies or other cyber security platforms would be highly regarded.

A bit about you

You are a highly capable, hands‑on Azure Logic Apps and integration engineer who enjoys designing, building and solving complex technical problems. You are comfortable working in large enterprise environments where requirements may evolve, and you can take a business or technical challenge and turn it into a practical, reliable and scalable automated solution.

You bring strong hands‑on experience with Azure Logic Apps, workflow development, APIs, integrations and process automation, supported by a broader understanding of Azure engineering and cloud services. You are comfortable designing integrations between different platforms, working with REST APIs and connectors, handling authentication and data transformation, and troubleshooting workflows across multiple systems.

You are equally comfortable getting hands‑on with the technology as you are discussing solution design with architects, engineers, cyber security specialists and business stakeholders. You understand how to take an integration from an initial requirement through design, development, testing and ultimately into a production‑ready solution.

You are pragmatic, curious and outcomes‑focused, with the confidence to challenge existing approaches and contribute ideas about how processes can be better automated and integrated. You can work autonomously when required while collaborating effectively across Azure, cyber security, engineering and business teams.

Importantly, you take ownership of what you build. You care about producing solutions that are secure, resilient, observable, maintainable and production‑ready, with appropriate error handling, monitoring and documentation.

While this role sits within a Cyber Security Automation and Engineering function, you do not need to be a Microsoft Sentinel specialist. Experience integrating Azure Logic Apps with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft security technologies, SIEM/SOAR platforms or other cyber security systems will be highly regarded, with Sentinel SMEs available within the broader team.

Experience with additional Azure integration and automation technologies, Infrastructure as Code, scripting, CI/CD, Ansible or Splunk SOAR, as well as exposure to Machine Learning, LLMs or emerging automation technologies, would also be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

- Design,



develop and deliver enterprise‑grade automation workflows using Azure Logic Apps, supporting cyber security operations and broader automation initiatives.
- Build, test, deploy and maintain production‑ready Logic Apps incorporating robust error handling, retry logic, exception management, logging, monitoring and observability.
- Design and develop integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, Azure connectors and other integration methods to connect Microsoft and third‑party platforms and services.
- Develop automated workflows that orchestrate processes across cloud, SaaS, on‑premises and hybrid environments.
- Work closely with cyber security, Microsoft Sentinel and engineering SMEs to understand operational requirements and translate them into effective automated workflows and integrations.
- Build Logic Apps that integrate with Microsoft Sentinel and other security platforms, including workflows supporting incident management, notifications, enrichment, approvals, remediation and security orchestration.
- Design automation solutions that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency and increase the consistency and reliability of business and security processes.
- Configure and manage authentication and secure connectivity between integrated systems, including managed identities, service principals, OAuth, API authentication and secrets management.
- Work with structured data and payloads, including JSON, to transform, map and pass information between integrated systems and APIs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Logic Apps, APIs, connectors and distributed integrations.
- Engage with architects, engineers, cyber security specialists and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate complex or evolving needs into practical, fit‑for‑purpose technical solutions.
- Ensure solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, observable and maintainable, while aligning with enterprise architecture, security standards and engineering practices.
- Contribute to technical design and engineering decisions and continuously identify opportunities to improve automation, integration and development practices.
- Produce appropriate technical documentation covering solution design, integrations, workflows, dependencies, support requirements and operational processes.
- Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring to graduate and junior engineers, helping build broader Azure integration and automation capability across the team.

Job Requirements

Essential

- 5+ years' experience across Azure integration, automation or cloud engineering, with strong hands‑on experience designing and building Azure Logic Apps in production environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting complex Logic Apps workflows and automated business or technical processes.
- Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs, including working with HTTP methods, authentication, JSON payloads, webhooks and API‑based integrations.
- Strong experience integrating applications and platforms across Azure, SaaS, on‑premises and hybrid environments.
- Practical experience with Azure connectors, custom connectors and API‑driven integration patterns.
- Solid understanding of authentication and secure integration approaches, including technologies such as OAuth 2.0, managed identities, service principals, API keys and secrets management.
- Demonstrated experience building resilient, production‑ready integrations incorporating error handling, retry logic, exception management, logging, monitoring and observability.
- Strong practical knowledge of relevant Azure services and cloud engineering concepts, with the ability to understand how Logic Apps interact with other components within an enterprise Azure environment.
- Strong coding or scripting capability in one or more languages such as PowerShell, Python, C#, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience working with structured data formats and data transformation, particularly JSON, including mapping and manipulating data between different systems and APIs.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Logic Apps, APIs, connectors,



authentication mechanisms and distributed systems.
- Experience delivering integration or automation solutions within large and complex enterprise environments.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to take an operational or technical requirement and develop a practical, scalable and maintainable solution.
- Proven ability to work with architects, engineers, technical SMEs and business stakeholders to define, clarify and refine technical requirements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain integration designs and technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously within ambiguous or evolving environments and effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
- Experience operating within established enterprise security, architecture, engineering and governance standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the Australian Government security clearance required for the engagement, with a minimum NV1 clearance required.

Desirable

- Experience integrating Azure Logic Apps with Microsoft Sentinel, including security automation, incident workflows, enrichment, notifications and remediation processes.
- Exposure to Microsoft Sentinel, SIEM/SOAR platforms or cyber security operations, particularly where Logic Apps have been used to automate or orchestrate security processes.
- Experience with complementary Azure integration and automation services such as Azure Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs and Key Vault.
- Experience developing custom connectors or integrating with third‑party platforms where standard Azure connectors are not available.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated deployment approaches using technologies such as Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform.
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices for deploying and managing Logic Apps and other Azure integration components across development, test and production environments.
- Exposure to additional automation or orchestration technologies such as Power Automate, Ansible or Splunk SOAR.
- Experience working with Microsoft security technologies or integrating with security platforms such as Microsoft Defender, Entra ID or other enterprise security solutions.
- Exposure to Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI services or emerging automation technologies.
- Experience working within the telecommunications or utilities sector.
- Experience delivering solutions within large‑scale, highly governed enterprise environments.
- Previous experience providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing, coaching or mentoring to graduate and junior engineers.
