The Role
We're looking for an experienced Rail Safety Manager to lead rail safety compliance, accreditation and regulatory engagement across the business. Reporting to the Director – Plant & Rail Services, you'll act as the primary interface with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR), ensure compliance with the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL), and provide strategic and operational rail safety support across projects and business units.

Responsibilities

- Act as primary interface with ONRSR, leading quarterly meetings and regulatory reporting
- Manage accreditation processes and notifiable occurrences
- Maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) and implement legislative and regulatory updates
- Develop and lead the audit program, conducting audits across the business
- Lead incident investigations and drive corrective actions




- Lead the development of Safety Interface Agreements and associated risk assessments
- Manage the drug and alcohol testing program and provider relationships
- Provide strategic rail safety advice and support to projects and business units
- Support Plant & Rail Services with rail safety input relating to rolling stock and operations
- Provide rail safety input into tender submissions

Requirements

- Extensive knowledge of the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL) and ONRSR requirements
- Demonstrated experience in rail safety accreditation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and investigation capability
- Proven experience managing regulatory relationships and safety management systems
