We're looking for a Senior Quality Engineer – Integration to play a pivotal role in driving test automation, continuous testing, and quality engineering practices across our enterprise integration landscape.

About the Role

As a Senior Quality Engineer – Integration, you'll play a central role in ensuring the reliability and integrity of WorkCover Queensland's enterprise systems during a period of significant technology change. Embedded within a collaborative engineering team, you'll own the end-to-end quality assurance of integration touchpoints across our platforms — ensuring data flows accurately, APIs perform as designed, and releases meet the highest standards before they reach production.

Reports to the Manager Integration Delivery and leads the development and maturity of integration test automation and quality engineering practices at WorkCover Queensland. The role establishes and evolves test automation frameworks, standards, and governance across Technology Services & Security, with a focus on integration domains. Working closely with development, platform, release management, and security teams, the role strengthens DevOps and continuous testing practices to improve delivery speed, quality, and customers outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the adoption of test automation and continuous testing practices across engineering teams.
- Design, develop and maintain automated API and integration test suites.
- Define and evolve test automation frameworks, standards, governance and quality metrics.
- Provide technical leadership for testing across iPaaS, SaaS, middleware, microservices and cloud platforms.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to improve delivery speed and quality.
- Support test environments, test data management and secure testing practices.
- Analyse defects, identify root causes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform, release and security teams to embed quality engineering practices into delivery.
- Mentor and coach engineers in automation, quality engineering and non-functional testing approaches.

What You'll Bring

Essential Experience:

- 7+ years' experience in software testing with a strong focus on integration, API, middleware and backend testing.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated API and integration test frameworks.
- Strong experience with Karate DSL,



Playwright and Postman.
- Deep understanding of REST and SOAP web services, HTTP protocols, JSON and XML.
- Strong SQL skills for data validation and testing across complex database environments.
- Experience testing APIs, microservices, enterprise integrations, ESBs and iPaaS platforms.
- Knowledge of API security testing, authentication, authorisation and OAuth 2.0.
- Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jira Xray.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Highly Regarded

- Experience with Microsoft Azure Integration Services.
- Exposure to Generative AI tools for test automation or test script creation.
- ISTQB Foundation Certification or similar.
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.
