Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North‐West Queensland. The company has existing operations at Osborne, south of Cloncurry, as well as several development projects and extensive exploration activity on a large tenement holding in the region. Chinova has other open pit and potential underground projects expected to commence. Key projects include the Osborne copper-gold processing facility, the world’s highest grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit; and Mount Elliott, our flagship project, which contains one of the largest copper-gold, mineralised systems discovered in Australia.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Mine Engineer to join the Mining Team, sharing Chinova’s values and its commitment to safety and the environment.

The Senior Mine Engineer role reports to the Mining Manager and is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and managing all underground mining engineering activities. This new position will help to ensure statutory compliance with Queensland mining legislation support safe, effective, and cost-effective underground mining operations.

Duties within this role include, but not limited to :

Technical

- Ensure compliance to legislative requirements defined by the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017
- Ensure compliance to all internal corporate policies
- Monitor ongoing mining activities and actively seek improvement in performance
- Provide technical advice, plans and assistance to Merlin Underground team
- Support and ensure compliance to the Chinova Safety & Health Management System
- Identify opportunities for business growth
- Update project designs and project proposals
- Undertake evaluations and optimisations
- Mine design, including capital and operating designs
- Stope shape and stope note compilation
- Production drill/blast designs and stope reconciliation
- Daily and weekly production monitoring




- Participate in audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Scheduling & Delivery

- Maintain Project Programs and Mine schedules
- Establish & maintain operational performance monitoring, including routine data capture and recording of key performance indicators
- Maintain and regularly update Project Schedule. Effectively present and distribute schedule updates to key personnel and appropriate contractors
- Establish resourcing requirements to undertake future operational activity
- Deliver weekly and monthly mine plans
- Provide forecasting information for Budgets and company forecasts
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 5 - 7 years’ experience, including significant experience in hard rock underground mining
- Working knowledge of Qld Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and Qld Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017
- Technical skills using Deswik suite software, Ventsim software (desirable)
- High degree of safety awareness with proven hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise work effectively
- Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Current Australian C class driver's licence
- Experience with underground backfill practices (desirable)
- Proven experience in ventilation management and statutory officer duties (desirable)

This is a permanent FIFO opportunity on an 8/6 roster. Our selection process involves interviews, skills assessment, and pre-employment medical.
