Quality & Compliance Manager – Aged Care
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Quality & Compliance Manager to coordinate our organisation's quality, compliance, clinical governance and continuous improvement framework across our Residential Aged Care (RAC) and Support at Home (SAH).
This is a key senior position within a stand-alone aged care provider and will suit an accomplished quality professional who brings extensive experience in aged care quality management, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness.
The successful applicant will provide expert advice to the Executive Team, managers and governing body and ensure the organisation maintains strong systems of governance, assurance, monitoring, and continuous improvement. About the Role
Outlook Gardens Aged Care located in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs is seeking a proactive, forward-thinking Quality & Compliance Manager to join our team on a full time basis.
Reporting to the Care Services Director, the Quality & Compliance Manager will have responsibility for overseeing and strengthening our quality and compliance systems across Residential Aged Care and Support at Home.
You will coordinate the preparedness and ongoing compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, provider registration requirements, and other applicable aged care regulatory obligations.
A significant focus of this position will be ensuring that our quality systems are not simply compliant on paper but are effectively implemented, monitored, and embedded into everyday service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
Coordinate quality, compliance and continuous improvement framework across RAC and Support at Home.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and translate regulatory requirements into practical operational systems.
Coordinate organisational preparedness for Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission audits, monitoring activities, and provider registration renewal.
Coordinate internal audits, compliance monitoring, quality reviews and evidence collection against applicable Standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain an annual audit and compliance monitoring program.
Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, legislative requirements,
and organisational governance frameworks.
Coordinate the review, development and implementation of policies, procedures, and quality systems.
Maintain oversight of the Continuous Improvement Plan, ensuring identified actions are implemented, evaluated and sustained.
Analyse complaints, incidents, feedback, clinical indicators, audit findings, risk data, and other quality information to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Provide regular quality, compliance and risk reporting to the Executive Team and governing body.
Support managers to develop corrective action plans and ensure identified non-compliance is addressed within required time frames.
Monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions and ensure improvements are embedded into practice.
Support compliance with Reliable Incident Response Scheme (SIRS), complaints management, restrictive practices requirements and other applicable regulatory obligations.
Work collaboratively with operational and clinical coordinators to strengthen clinical governance and consumer safety.
Oversee quality and compliance requirements relating to associated providers and contracted service providers where applicable.
Maintain systems and evidence required to demonstrate ongoing provider capability and compliance.
Participate in the preparation and coordination of documentation and evidence required for regulatory audits and the provider registration renewal process.
Promote a positive culture of accountability, learning, continuous improvement, and person-centred care.
About you
This is a senior quality position, and applicants must be able to demonstrate substantial aged care quality and compliance experience.
To be successful, you will have:
Extensive experience in a senior Quality, Compliance, Governance or Quality Management role within aged care.
Demonstrated experience coordinating quality and compliance functions within Residential Aged Care. Experience in Support at Home/Home Care highly regarded.
Extensive and contemporary knowledge of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
Strong working knowledge of the Aged Care Act 2024 and the current aged care regulatory environment.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing quality management systems, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement programs.
Extensive experience conducting and coordinating internal audits, monitoring audits, gap analyses,and compliance reviews.
Demonstrated ability to assess organisational compliance, identify risk, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Experience preparing an aged care organisation for Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission audits and regulatory assessment.
Strong knowledge and preferably direct experience with the provider registration and renewal process, including preparation and coordination of audit evidence.
Demonstrated experience reviewing and developing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislation, regulatory guidance, and contemporary best practice.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret quality, clinical, incident, complaint, and risk data and translate findings into meaningful improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive and governance reports, audit reports, action plans, and regulatory responses.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and influence managers and staff and build a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.
High attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing regulatory and organisational priorities.
Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification in health, nursing, quality management, governance, risk, aged care, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
Formal qualifications or recognised training in quality auditing, clinical governance, risk management, or continuous improvement will be highly regarded.
