About A-Gas
A-Gas is a global leader in the lifecycle management of refrigerants and associated products. Through responsible supply, recovery, reclamation and destruction, we help industries reduce emissions and support a more sustainable future.
As a growing, private equity-backed global business, A-Gas combines entrepreneurial agility with the scale, investment and ambition to drive sustainable growth across international markets.
Guided by our values of Care, Collaborate and Grow, we are committed to building a high-performing and inclusive culture where our people are supported to succeed, contribute and make a difference.
About the Role
Based in Melbourne, Australia, the Head of People & Culture – APAC will lead the regional P&C; function supporting approximately 150 employees across Australia, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
As a member of the APAC Leadership Team, you will work closely with senior leaders to shape and deliver the regional people strategy, strengthen organisational capability and ensure our people priorities support the commercial direction and continued growth of the business.
This is a broad leadership role covering everything from workforce and succession planning through to leadership capability, culture, employee relations and organisational change.
Importantly, this isn’t a role that operates from the sidelines. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically,
challenge and influence senior leaders, while remaining close enough to the business to understand what is happening on the ground and help turn strategy into practical outcomes.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Partnering with the APAC Leadership Team to develop and deliver the regional People & Culture strategy aligned with business priorities and growth plans.
- Leading workforce planning, talent management and succession planning to ensure the region has the capability required for future growth.
- Strengthening leadership capability through coaching, development and practical support to leaders across the region.
- Driving employee engagement, organisational development, culture and change initiatives across a geographically and culturally diverse workforce.
- Providing pragmatic advice and leadership across employee relations, reward, compliance and people governance within multiple APAC jurisdictions.
- Using people data and business insight to identify workforce trends, risks and opportunities and support better decision-making.
- Leading and developing the regional People & Culture team, creating a function that is commercially focused, responsive and trusted by the business.
- Supporting regional and global people initiatives while ensuring they are effectively adapted to the needs of individual APAC markets.
About You
You're an experienced People & Culture leader who understands that great HR is ultimately about helping a business and its people perform better.
You’ll be comfortable operating as a strategic partner to senior leaders, but equally willing to get involved in the detail when required.
You can move between long-term organisational priorities and immediate operational challenges without losing sight of the commercial outcome.
Working across APAC also requires curiosity and adaptability. You’ll understand that approaches that work in Australia won’t necessarily translate directly into China, Japan, Singapore or Thailand, and you’ll be confident navigating different cultures, employment environments and ways of doing business.
To be successful in this role, you will generally bring:
- Significant progressive HR experience, ideally including leadership positions such as Senior HR Manager, Senior HR Business Partner, Head of People or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience supporting businesses across multiple Asian and/or APAC markets.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect people priorities with broader business objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Experience across workforce planning, talent and succession, organisational development, employee engagement and change.
- Solid employee relations capability and an understanding of operating across different employment and regulatory environments.
- The ability to influence, coach and constructively challenge senior leaders while building trusted relationships throughout the organisation.
- A practical, delivery-oriented approach and willingness to remain hands-on within a lean regional structure.
- Resilience, adaptability and sound judgement within a growing and evolving international business.
- The willingness and ability to travel throughout the APAC region as required.
Most importantly, you'll join an ambitious international business where you can influence strategy, develop leaders and make a tangible impact on both our people and commercial performance.
If you're looking for a regional People & Culture leadership role that combines strategic influence with genuine ownership and execution, we'd love to hear from you.
