Position Information

Lismore Heights Public School caters for approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2027, the school will operate 7 mainstream classes and 3 support classes. Approximately 22% of the student population identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school provides a secure, caring and nurturing environment in which students of all ages and abilities thrive. Lismore Heights Public School is a proud member of The Rivers P-12 Community of Schools which serves Lismore and its surrounding area. Our schools work collaboratively to provide quality learning experiences for all students living in the Lismore region. The school is committed to all teaching staff engaging in Quality Teaching Rounds, the implementation of explicit teaching practices and the collection and robust analysis of student data to support learning at all levels.

The successful candidate will work as part of a strong and experienced executive team which supports distributed leadership in driving and evaluating the impact of school priorities.

Specific Selection Criteria

- In addition to the general selection criteria,



approval to teach infants and/or primary
- Demonstrated ability to lead a positive, inclusive and equitable school culture characterised by a commitment to improving and evaluating the participation, engagement and outcomes of every student
- Proven ability to balance the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal with that of an exemplary classroom practitioner, whilst supporting collaborative planning, delivery and reflection of explicit teaching strategies to support improvement in student outcomes
- Highly developed capacity to collaborate as an effective member of an executive leadership team to lead, mentor and inspire staff, student and community to foster a culture of continuous improvement and positive collaboration

General Selection Criteria

1. 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. 5.



Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
