New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. NPL is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation, Zijin Mining, and the Papua Current Guinea Government, combining global mining expertise with a shared commitment to responsible resource development and long-term value creation for Papua New Guinea.

The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production and, over its 30-year operating history, has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea's total annual exports, making it one of the country's most significant economic assets.

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Jumbo Operator to join our Underground Mining team. Reporting to the Underground Supervisor your responsibilities will include:

- Drilling and bolting of incline, decline, primarily face drilling
- Ground support, consisting of bolt and mesh
- Identify and remedy misfires
- Conduct prestart checks of equipment and drill site
- Monitor and operate the drill rig control panel
- Read and follow worksheets and drill patterns
- Ensure that work is carried out through adherence to specifications, schedules, and standards
- Mentoring of our highly capable national workforce

About you





- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating Underground Jumbos (preferably Sandvik D422i series)
- Competence in the safe and efficient operation of the Jumbo drill and installation of ground support
- Hold relevant RPL and VOC’s
- Capable of meeting productivity standards (metres advanced)
- Familiar with hard rock mining techniques with the ability to read ground conditions and drill designs
- Possess a positive attitude to Safety and the care of the equipment
