About the Role
Primary responsibilities include:
- To provide students with quality and value-added education through leadership and oversight of the social work field education program to facilitate student learning within a caring Christian environment.
- To oversee the development and delivery of placement preparation and training for students and staff through appropriate lectures, workshops, and theory to practice integration tutorials that align with ASWEAS standards.
- To prepare and develop School curricula relevant to field education in consultation with the Head of School. To contribute to the development of School of Social Work practicum curricula and accompanying practicum documentation, in consultation with the Head of School.
- To manage the Field Education Coordinators.
- To oversee the management and recruitment of appropriately qualified Social Work casual staff for Field Educator and Field Education Liaison Officer roles for students on placement.
- To ensure the activities of the School are operated effectively and efficiently and provide a quality service to the students and staff.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications and Professional Standing:
- Committed Christian involved in a local congregation.
- Hold a Masters and/or PhD qualification in relevant Social Work discipline.
- Member or eligible to be member of the AASW
- Experience in field education either as a Field Educator (Supervisor) and/or Field Education Liaison Officer.
- Evidence of teaching experience in a higher education setting.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Social Worker.
- A proven record of skilled activities and ideally record of research and academic publications.
- An understanding of current and emerging trends in education as a whole and discipline Social Work in particular.
- Demonstrated high level of skills in written and oral communication and information literacy and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and ability to work with students, staff, and administrators, including pastoral skills in mentoring staff and supporting students.
- Evidence of commitment to personal professional development, including research and/or professional practice and maintenance of relevant professional skills in the field of expertise.
