This isn't a role where you'll spend the next couple of years doing the same month-end process. Longer term, there is scope to work on automation, AI, digital improvements and streamlining accounting processes. You will be accountable for the numbers but will also have a key role in improving how the finance function operates. You’ll be part of a welcoming finance team, working closely with and reporting to an experienced Finance Manager.

This role will work closely with other stakeholders across the finance function and the wider businesses, delivering high-quality financial analysis, maintaining data integrity, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, and ensuring the effective execution of daily processes and adherence to deadlines.

We have two roles available - candidates can be based in Brisbane or Melbourne.

Main responsibilities:

Owning the numbers for a defined group of businesses end to end, run with minimal supervision, with the General Managers of those businesses coming to you directly

Ensuring the successful completion of the monthly and quarterly financial deliverables, month end close activities and associated reporting for a selected group of businesses by the central reporting deadlines

Effective stakeholder relationship management with an emphasis on fostering excellent business partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Preparing the monthly and quarterly forecast and reporting pack for your businesses

Contributing to effective formulation, documentation and sharing of processes, policies, and procedures, including the implementation of AI-driven automation





Action external/internal audit requests

Application of IFRS accounting standards

Mentoring and developing junior members of the finance team

What we’re looking for

Effective communication skills with high attention to detail

You run your own entities without supervision, and you are comfortable being the person others come to

When you are given something you have not done before, you work it out and come back with a recommendation. Shown once, you absorb it and get on with it

Commitment to excellence, innovation and continuous improvement

The ability to effectively prioritise and coordinate completion of tasks by the central deadlines

Tech savviness and experience with computerized accounting packages

An interest in systems and process improvement, with ability to question if existing processes are optimal and embracing change

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or other relevant professional qualification

At least 5 years of experience in a related role, preferably within a commercial software environment

A solid understanding of core accounting principles and applicable accounting standards
