About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Utility Locator to join our growing Victorian Subsurface Utility Investigation (SUI) team.

Based at our Malvern office, you will work alongside a highly skilled team of CERTLOC-certified professionals specialising in the identification, investigation, and mapping of underground infrastructure.

This role will see you using advanced locating technologies to collect accurate underground service information and contribute to the delivery of high-quality utility data for engineering, construction, and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

- Locating and investigating underground utilities and associated infrastructure using:
- Electromagnetic locating equipment




- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology

- Reading and interpreting Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) plans, as-built drawings, and construction documentation.
- Preparing investigation reports and project documentation.
- Providing technical advice and recommendations relating to underground utility services.
- Ensuring investigations comply with relevant industry standards, including AS 5488 Classification of Subsurface Utility Information.
- Liaising with clients and project stakeholders to provide effective solutions.
- Collaborating with surveyors, engineers, planners, and specialist consultants to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Supporting and mentoring trainee staff as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Construction Industry White Card.
- CERTLOC accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience locating underground services using electromagnetic locating equipment.
- Experience operating Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems.
- Sound knowledge of AS 5488 Classification of Subsurface Utility Information.
- Strong technical capability with the ability to interpret underground service plans, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.




- A willingness to continue learning and developing your technical skills.
- A positive and professional approach to teamwork.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

- Rail Industry Worker accreditation.
- Confined Space accreditation.
- Previous experience in utility mapping and GPS data capture.
