Aurum is a Perth-based electrical engineering consultancy working across commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure projects. Our work spans multi-residential developments, aged care, commerical, health and large-scale retail, through to HV systems, private substations and utility-scale renewables.

The Opportunity

Sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work in WA have opened a principal seat within our team. You'll lead design across the full range of work, and set the standard the rest of the team works to.

You'll hold client relationships directly, make the design calls, and sign off the work. Projects run concept to completion under you, with the autonomy and the accountability that comes with that. You'll also bring the engineers behind you along — reviewing their work, and teaching them what you know.

And you'll have a say in the business itself: which work we pursue, how we resource it, and where the practice goes next.

What you'll do

- Lead the design and delivery of complex electrical projects from feasibility and concept through to construction, commissioning and handover.




- Act as the senior technical authority — design review, QA, and the final call on technical position.
- Own and grow client relationships and convert them into repeat work.
- Prepare and review reports, specifications, calculations and design documentation.
- Undertake LV and HV power system, distribution and infrastructure design using PowerCAD and similar tools.
- Deliver lighting design using AGi32/DIALux and ElumTools.
- Manage Western Power connection applications and negotiations where projects require them.
- Mentor engineers and graduates, and build the technical standards and processes the team works to.
- Contribute to fee proposals, resourcing, and the growth, culture and strategic direction of the firm.

What you'll bring

- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (honours regarded).
- Substantial consulting experience delivering electrical projects end to end in Australia.
- Chartered status (CPEng/NER) or a clear pathway to it — we'll support you getting there.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards, the NCC and WA-specific requirements including Western Power's technical rules.
- Demonstrated ability to run projects commercially — scope, fee, program and variations, not just design.
- Confidence dealing directly with clients, architects, builders and utilities.
- Clear, well-structured written work. A lot of what we sell is the quality of the documentation.
- Current Australian work rights.
