The Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of commercial construction projects at BCA Group. This role requires strong technical capability, disciplined site leadership, and a commitment to programme, safety, and quality standards. The Site Manager works closely with the Project Manager and is directly accountable for site operations from mobilisation through to practical completion.

1. Position Overview The Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of commercial construction projects at BCA Group. This role requires strong technical capability, disciplined site leadership, and a commitment to programme, safety, and quality standards. The Site Manager works closely with the Project Manager and is directly accountable for site operations from mobilisation through to practical completion.

2. Key Responsibilities 2.1 Programming & Schedule Management

Develop, maintain, and update the project programme in collaboration with the Project Manager

Manage trade sequencing and ensure subcontractor activities align with programme milestones

Identify programme risks early and implement mitigation strategies to protect completion dates

Conduct regular look-ahead planning (3-week and 6-week) with the site team and key subcontractors

2.2 Site Coordination

Manage all day-to-day site operations including trade coordination, deliveries, logistics, and access

Chair and minute regular site meetings with subcontractors; track and close out action items

Coordinate with consultants, certifiers, and authorities as required

Manage site establishment, hoarding, laydown areas, and temporary works

Ensure effective communication between site and the project management team

2.3 Safety

Maintain a compliant site in accordance with the Site Safety Management Plan, WHS legislation, and BCA Group standards

Conduct daily site inspections and weekly safety audits; document and close out findings





Chair toolbox talks and ensure all subcontractors complete site inductions prior to commencement

Investigate and report all incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly

Lead a proactive safety culture - safety is non-negotiable and starts with the Site Manager

2.4 Quality Assurance

Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan across all trades and work stages

Conduct and document hold point inspections (HPIs) and witness point inspections (WPIs) in accordance with the inspection and test plan

Ensure subcontractors complete ITPs and relevant QA documentation prior to covering works

Manage defect identification, recording, and close-out throughout the project - not just at handover

Maintain a current defects register and report status to the Project Manager weekly

2.5 Shop Drawing Process

Manage the shop drawing register; track submissions, review status, and approvals across all trades

Coordinate timely submission of shop drawings by subcontractors in line with programme requirements

Liaise with design consultants and the Contract Administrator to obtain approvals before work proceeds

Ensure no work is executed based on unapproved or superseded drawings - enforce version control on site

Communicate approved drawings to relevant subcontractors and maintain a controlled set on site

2.6 Attention to Detail & Document Control

Maintain an organised and current site filing system - RFIs, variations, correspondence, and submittals

Review documentation carefully before issuing or actioning; errors cost time and money

Ensure site records, daily diaries, and progress photos are completed consistently and accurately





Flag ambiguities or discrepancies in documentation to the Project Manager before proceeding

Key Relationships

Project Manager - primary reporting line; regular programme and cost updates

Subcontractors - direct management of all site-based trades

Contract Administrator / Superintendent - RFI and variation management

Design Consultants - shop drawing coordination and technical queries

Client & Client Representatives - professional site interface as required

WHS & Quality Teams - compliance, audits, and reporting

Qualifications & Experience Required

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Site Manager on commercial construction projects ($3M+)

Demonstrated experience managing site programmes and subcontractor coordination

High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) relevant to site activities (e.g. EWP, scaffolding) - or equivalent

Certificate IV in Building & Construction (or higher) - or equivalent trade/site management experience

Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and construction site compliance requirements

Working knowledge of the shop drawing process and design documentation management

Desirable

Experience delivering commercial fit-out, multi-residential, or mixed-use projects

Familiarity with Procore, Hammertech, or similar project management platforms

First aid certification
