We are seeking an operational, detail-oriented HR Officer to join our busy People and Culture team. Supporting general institutional operations and specialized academic faculties, this role manages the day-to-day employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to compliance, training coordination, and workplace health and safety. This role suits a generalist HR professional with a solid grounding in Australian employment compliance, Fair Work legislation, and employee relations support. Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Manage end-to-end recruitment across academic and professional positions, including job postings, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection. Coordinate and facilitate comprehensive induction and onboarding programs for new staff. Coordinate in-house training opportunities, workshops, and compliance modules. Maintain training records and support continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives across teams. 3. HR Compliance, Policy & Records

Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date staff personnel files in accordance with privacy laws and record-keeping standards. Monitor federal and state employment legislation (including Fair Work and WHS acts) and assist with updating institutional HR policies and procedures. Ensure workplace health and safety (WHS) compliance, including maintaining first aid kits, risk monitoring, and incident reporting. 4.



Performance, Employee Relations & Support

Support managers through probation check-ins, performance reviews, and workforce planning. Provide preliminary guidance and support on employee relations matters, investigations, and general policy inquiries. 5. Internal Communications & Culture

Draft and distribute regular staff newsletters and internal communications. Organize employee events and initiatives to promote a positive, inclusive work environment. Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications & Experience:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or Business, or an equivalent combination of relevant industry experience and education. Demonstrated generalist HR experience, ideally within the Australian Higher Education sector Skills & Core Competencies:

Employment Legislation: Strong practical understanding of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, WHS requirements, and Australian HR compliance standards. Recruitment & Administration: Proven ability to manage full-lifecycle recruitment and maintain meticulous recordkeeping across personnel files. Communication & Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with experience drafting staff newsletters and policy updates. Problem Solving: Experience supporting managers with initial employee relations queries and performance management processes. What We Offer
