Senior Legal Counsel

on a

contract basis

to be embedded within both its

Technology Legal team

and the

ubank

digital banking team, based in

Sydney, NSW, Australia . The role focuses on providing strategic, business-focused legal advice on technology procurement, cloud agreements, commercial contracts, and process innovation initiatives supporting ubank's digital-first banking platform.

Key Eligibility Criteria

Admitted to practice law in Australia

Minimum

5 years PQE

at a law firm, relevant in-house role, or a combination thereof

Proven experience advising on technology legal issues, prudential standards, contract interpretation, and disputes





Strong relationship-building skills to integrate with both the ubank and Technology Legal teams

Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy; independently manage workload, negotiations, and drafting

Effective communication skills to engage across technical and business stakeholders at all levels

Excellent organisational skills including prioritisation and time management

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

Lead negotiation of technology and commercial agreements, including major cloud agreements

Provide strategic legal advice on contract interpretation and disputes

Support simplification and process improvement initiatives within ubank and the legal function, including AI integration and offshore workforce matters

Advise on ubank's procurement, technology strategy, and implementation from a legal perspective

Contribute to making NAB and ubank systems and processes more agile and cutting-edge
