Established in 1906 the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is not only Australia’s oldest orchestra, but one of the country’s most forward-looking major arts institutions. It currently engages over 2.5 million people through live and recorded broadcasts and performs live to more than 300,000 people annually, in concerts ranging from performances at its home, Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne, to its annual free concerts at Melbourne’s largest outdoor venue, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. About the role The CRM & Data Specialist is an integral member of the Development and Reach team, responsible for the effective management, optimisation and governance of the MSO’s customer relationship management system, Tessitura, and the quality and integrity of customer data across the organisation.

Reporting to the CRM and Insights Manager, the role acts as a key source of expertise across CRM, data and reporting, providing analysis, audience insights and recommendations that support ticket sales, fundraising, audience engagement and strategic decision-making.

Working collaboratively across Marketing, Development, Ticketing and other teams, the CRM & Data Specialist will manage and enhance Tessitura, develop reports and audience segments, support database upgrades and integrations, and identify opportunities to improve systems and workflows through business intelligence, automation and emerging technologies.

The successful applicant will possess the following:



Knowledge and Demonstrated Experience

Demonstrated experience administering, managing or supporting a CRM, ticketing, fundraising or customer database

Experience analysing customer or audience data and translating findings into meaningful reports, insights and recommendations

Experience developing audience segments and targeted datasets to support marketing, fundraising, sales or customer communications

Experience developing, improving and documenting database processes, workflows and procedures

Strong understanding of data quality, privacy, security and governance requirements within customer data environments

Skills Required

Intermediate-advanced experience with data querying and programming languages, in particular SQL

Strong knowledge of relational databases and experience with T-SQL programming

Experience working within an SSRS environment, including writing and customising reports

Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and communicate findings clearly

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Platform and related business tools for data management, reporting and process improvement

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop practical, creative solutions

Experience with other programming languages like HTML and Python

Previous experience within a ticketing, arts or fundraising environment

Interest in classical music and willingness to learn more to enhance understanding of environment and product
