An established Australian advanced manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist – Setter / Operator to join its precision machining team.

This is a hands-on role for a skilled machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC machines, work from engineering drawings and manufacture precision components to required tolerances.

The Role

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes
n
- Independently set up jobs from engineering drawings
n
- Set cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, work offsets and tool offsets
n
- Load, prove and adjust CNC programs at the machine
n
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds and feeds
n
- Carry out first-off and in-process dimensional inspections
n
- Use micrometres, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges and other precision measuring equipment
n
- Monitor dimensions,



surface finish and tool condition during machining
n
- Make tooling, machine and offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
n
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling and setup issues
n
- Produce components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances
n

What We're Looking For

n

n
- Experience as a CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator
n
- Strong CNC machine setting skills
n
- Ability to independently set up and prove machining jobs
n
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
n
- Positive knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds and workholding
n
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
n
- Valuable machining and problem-solving skills
n
- Reliable and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
n

n

A relevant trade qualification is preferred.

n

Experience with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining is required. Experience with 5-axis CNC machining is not essential but will be highly regarded.

n

Experience with Siemens SINUMERIK controls would be an advantage - not essential

n
