Just Meat Protein is a Brisbane food technology startup commercialising technology that turns low-value meat cuts into high-value ingredients. This world-first technology allows us to make novel ingredients with applications across Sports Nutrition, Aged Care and more.

We've just closed our seed funding round and are rapidly progressing the scale up of our technology with commercial launch within six months. We're a small, agile team with a strong drive for success, and we'd love to add a Business Development Manager with a similar attitude to the mix.

The role We have the technology, the investment and real market interest. What we need is someone to turn that interest into signed customers.

You’ll own business development end to end – managing current opportunities as well as finding new ones, running the relationships with NPD teams, managing samples and trials, negotiating terms and closing agreements. You’ll sell to food brands, manufacturers and ingredient distributors in Australia and, over time, internationally.

This is a build-it-from-scratch role in a company that’s still writing its playbook. There’s no inherited pipeline and no established process so it’s up to you to build the best frameworks that work for you. If that sounds like the best part of the job, we should talk.

What you’ll do

Build and own our sales pipeline across food brands, manufacturers and ingredient distributors

Run the technical sell-in with NPD, R&D; and procurement teams alongside the CSO

Manage the sampling and formulation trial process from request through to result

Negotiate pricing, volumes and supply terms, and close commercial agreements

Represent JMP at trade shows and industry events





Identify and appoint distribution partners as we expand

Feed market and customer insight back into product development and pricing

Skills you’ll need Commercial

Proven B2B sales experience in food ingredients, with deals you've personally closed

Negotiation and contract skills - pricing, volumes, supply terms

Pipeline discipline: you forecast honestly and manage long sales cycles without losing momentum

Prospecting ability - you can open doors cold

Technical

Enough food formulation knowledge to hold a credible conversation about functionality, application and specification without a technical colleague in the room

Experience selling into NPD and R&D; teams

Familiarity with supplier onboarding, specifications and customer technical approval processes

How you work

Genuinely self-led - you set your own priorities, build your own target list and hold yourself accountable

Comfortable with ambiguity and happy to make decisions without perfect information

Direct communicator who’ll challenge our thinking, not just agree with it

Resilient about long timelines

Nice to have

Existing network in Australian or international food manufacturing

Experience in protein, nutrition or flavour ingredients

Exposure to sports nutrition and/or aged care

Startup or early-stage experience
