We are seeking a skilled and creative

Pastry Chef

to join our team at Neighbourhood Kneads in Thornbury, VIC. This is a

full-time position

that plays a crucial role in our bakery's success. As our Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for designing, preparing, and executing a diverse range of pastries, desserts, and sweet products that delight our customers. Your expertise and innovation will be integral to maintaining our reputation for quality and consistency whilst helping us expand our pastry offerings. Prepare and produce a variety of pastries, including laminated doughs, croissants, Danish pastries, tarts and other sweet items to company standards Develop and test new pastry recipes and seasonal products that align with current trends and customer preferences Ensure all pastry products meet strict quality standards in terms of taste, texture, appearance and presentation Manage inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies, including ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste Maintain a clean,



organised and hygienic workspace in accordance with food safety regulations and company protocols Collaborate with the wider bakery team to ensure smooth daily operations and timely production schedules Train and mentor junior pastry staff, providing guidance on techniques and best practices Adapt production plans based on seasonal demands, customer feedback and bakery requirements Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely and effectively What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role within a bakery, patisserie or hospitality environment Advanced knowledge of pastry techniques, including lamination, fermentation, tempering and decorative work Proficiency in working with various pastry ingredients and an understanding of how different components interact Strong attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and quality in every product Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst meeting production deadlines Food handling and hygiene certification or willingness to obtain one Excellent organisational and time-management skills Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and developing new products Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items Relevant qualifications or formal training in pastry arts (preferred) What we offer
