About the Opportunity

Are you a seasoned occupational health and wellbeing professional looking to shape enterprise-wide health outcomes across a large-scale civil infrastructure footprint?

We are seeking a high-caliber Principal Health & Wellbeing Specialist to lead, mature, and continuously improve health, hygiene, and worker wellbeing programs across a dynamic workforce of approximately 1,300 employees, alongside extensive contractor networks operating statewide.

This is a senior technical and advisory role designed for a subject matter expert who excels at working autonomously, solving complex operational challenges, and influencing cross-functional teams without needing direct authority.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will take ownership of enterprise-wide initiatives spanning:

- Health Monitoring & Surveillance: Overhaul, oversee, and manage compliant, legislated health surveillance programs and vendor service contracts.
- Fitness for Work: Lead and optimise fatigue management, drug and alcohol programs, and related quality assurance activities.
- Psychosocial Risk & Wellbeing: Champion psychosocial risk management frameworks and targeted worker wellbeing initiatives tailored to high-risk environments.
- Hazardous Exposure Management: Address critical exposure risks-including respirable crystalline silica, lead, asbestos, noise, and hazardous chemicals-supported by external occupational hygiene specialists.
- Governance & Standards: Author, review, and roll out practical policy frameworks,



standards, guidance material, and targeted training.
- Strategic Advisory: Serve as the trusted, go-to expert for operational leaders and corporate stakeholders, translating complex technical requirements into seamless, day-to-day workplace practices.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a self-driven specialist who thrives when given autonomy to unpack a problem, engage key stakeholders, and deliver practical, risk-based outcomes.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

- 5+ years of dedicated experience in occupational health, occupational hygiene, safety, or workplace wellbeing within high-risk sectors (civil construction, transport, infrastructure, resources, utilities, or rail).
- Proven Track Record managing legislated health monitoring/surveillance frameworks and fit-for-work programs (fatigue, D&A;).
- Solid Expertise in leading psychosocial risk management strategies and exposure monitoring programs for hazardous substances.
- System & Policy Capability: Demonstrated experience developing enterprise-level health and safety governance frameworks, standards, and procedures.
- Stakeholder Influence Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with operational field teams and senior executives alike.
